Meet Savitr Fragrances

As we continue to celebrate 12 Days of Local Love, Savitr Fragrances is both our Day 4 highlight & our Maker Monday!

Like many during the Covid pandemic, Jeremy Pike searched for a hobby during this time of dread and uncertainty. Creating candles came to mind as he was searching for a way to bring light and joy into the lives around him. Through trial and error, Jeremy taught himself how to make candles, and, drawing inspiration from Sun Gods and Goddesses, named his business Savitr Fragrances.

Savitr means “Sun Before Sunrise,” which is shorthand for Savitur, the Hindu Sun God. Sun Before Sunrise is also the candle Jeremy is most proud of, and happens to be the first Savitr product. This signature scent of his also happens to be a fan favorite in the store! Not only does Jeremy create luxury scents in the form of candles, he also creates room sprays, body lotions, and is currently working on his own skincare line. Jeremy’s main goal with his products is to help you feel like a king or queen, and mimic the effect of drawing inspiration from the sun each time you light his candles. His inspiration source of Sun Gods and Goddesses is just another layer in helping you feel like royalty when indulging in his fragrances.

Some advice Jeremy would give to someone trying to start their own business would be to research everything! From your target market, competition, and industry as a whole, it is important to know all the ins and outs of the industry. Find out what has worked for people and what hasn’t. It’s going to be all about trial and error until you finally get into your own groove. You need to understand your target customers, and what their needs and preferences are. From there, begin to craft a solid business plan to help guide you and that will serve as a roadmap for your business. There may be bumps in the road along the way, but you can always adapt as long as you have some idea fleshed out.

You can sometimes find Jeremy and his team at Local Pop Up markets, and you can always find his products inside Local Supply! When he isn’t attending Local Pop Up markets, he’s busy being a Director of Information Technology for a school in New Orleans. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family when he has spare time. At markets, he enjoys hanging out with Ashley of Grinning Jupiter Jammery, and, if given the chance, might be interested in collaborating with other makers in the collective.

For 12 Days of Local Love, Jeremy is offering 10% all of his products for the rest of the week! Click here to shop his products online, or head over to Local Supply this week and shop his collection in stores. He also has his own online store where you can shop and explore the rest of his products! Remember to shop & gift local this holiday season!
